Mazda CX-3 (15 - Present)

The compact crossover market has exploded over the last few years, and the CX-3 in our opinion might be the best-looking offering to date. It can be difficult to get that chunky, ready for anything SUV image to translate well via smaller dimensions without looking a bit odd, but Mazda have managed to pull it off with this one. Good looks aside, it's a practical little thing, with a spacious cabin that can carry five adults comfortably, and a bigger boot than the Mazda 2 on which its based. Low running costs due to low carbon emissions and impressive fuel economy make it easy to live with and the impressive amount of gadgets in the cabin will be sure to keep you entertained.

Look out for

  • Nothing to report so far

What we like

  • Great design – a genuine head turner
  • Inexpensive to buy and keep on the road
  • Impressive new high-tech features in the cabin
  • Great build quality and a nimble chassis
  • Solid reputation for reliability

What we don't like

  • Bootspace doesn't quite measure up to some of its rivals
